Student Leader's Forum

SForum 2021

The annual Champagnat Marist School Leaders Forum was held at Blue Skies, Kaiapoi, Christchurch from Thursday 18 - Sunday 21 February.  32 students from 8 of our Champagnat Marist schools participated.

The facilitator, Mr Dan Dungey commented that, “with so much chaos and turmoil in our world right now, these mighty young people are a real beacon of hope. It was a real privilege to be leading such an inspiring group and I am sure that our time together in community will in turn benefit your school community with their authentic and conscious servant leadership approach.”

“It never ceases to amaze me the significant impact that this programme has on people's lives and this, in our 15th year, was no exception. Alongside Amy Aukusitino and Br Osmund Macnamara (for many the first Marist Brother they have met in their lives) we were fortunate to have Margaret Leamy (Principal, St Peter's College, Palmerston North), Nigel Bailey (DP, Chanel College, Masterton) and David Sullivan (Principal, John Paul II High School, Greymouth) live in with us. The manaakitanga from Lee Nanai-Stewart (Acting Principal) and the Catholic Cathedral College community was heartfelt and helped establish a connection with our journey story through our attendance at the weekly Thursday lunchtime mass followed by mihi whakatau.”

Dr Kevin Shore (NZ Catholic Education CEO) joined the forum again which is a testament to his ongoing support and commitment of our schools and our young people.
