Lower Hutt

lowerhuttLast week The Grove hosted a Champagnat Marist partnership family – Rodrigo (33, teacher), Estela (32, doctor), Josue (5) and Lucia (18 months) Sanchez – en route from Cambodia to their home in Mexico. They had worked in partnership with the Ad Gentes community in Pailin for 3 years, including the time that Br Tim Leen was there.

Right: Ester, Doug, Rodrigo, Josue, Estela & Lucia, Kieran

Kieran, Esther, Shane and Doug all played roles in entertaining them and showing them around – Te Papa, cable car, zoo, Weta Workshop, Mt Victoria, the ferry across the harbour, Wairarapa and Otaki. It was possibly the first time a Marist Brothers’ car had to have children’s car seats installed!

They also joined and contributed to our Champagnat Marists’ group for our monthly session as well as Br Jone’s sharing of the NEL experience.

Our thanks go to Brs Colin Divane, Brian Callaghan and David Greenlees for looking after the Auckland airport side of things. The experience gave further emphasis to the benefits of partnership, seeing how this couple lived out their Maristness and commitment to the charism of Marcellin. They will be looking to continue it on their return to Mexico. Muchas gracias.
